Our Story

How It All Started…

...with a woman from Canada, Aimee Semple Mcpherson. She was an

evangelist at heart traveling the nation in her Gospel Car. She had a powerful

ministry where many were healed and set free. She was innovative in radio,

illustrated sermons, helping the poor, and responding to the hurting--such as

sending relief during earthquakes in the Los Angeles area in 1925 and 1933,

This same generosity, humility, and spiritual guidance leads the Foursquare

Way today.

While preaching in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area she came to Okmulgee by

request of a small group in 1933. Before she left a church was established

here. It was the first Foursquare Church established in Oklahoma. The

building has changed over the years, but the people still share in Sister

Aimee's willingness to be dedicated to the cause of inter-denominational and world-wide evangelism.
